An good condition 2005 model year V70 D5 SE with just over 68,000 miles in Silver metallic. The V70 is, in our view, a fabulous car to the extent that we run V70 D5's as our own cars and this is one is any many ways the ultimate V70 model combining the economy and performance of the D5 engine with the most of the performance of a petrol turbo version.

 

The comprehensive SE specification includes full leather trim, power seats, cruise control, climate control, auto-dipping mirror, electric windows, trip computer, electric folding mirrors, CD multichanger, Dolby Pro-Logic 9-speaker stereo, 17" alloys, rain sensor, the fabulous 9 speaker stereo system & full stability control.

 

This example also has some very useful options making it a superbly specified family car. It has the extra rear seats in the back making it a 7 seater, the family pack which consists of integrated rear child booster seats, electronic remote child locks and a picnic table, the winter pack (heated front seats, headlamp wash & carpet mats) and finally the superb 11 speaker Dolby "Audio Max" 4x75w audio system.

 

The interior is presented in black leather with aluminium inserts.

 

Volvo's 5-cylinder D5 engine produces 163bhp and a massive 340Nm of torque whilst still returning over 40mpg on the combined cycle and in our opinion offers pretty much all the performance you could ever ask for and generally feels faster than the petrol turbo versions in day to day driving whilst being vastly more economical.

 

Condition wise this example is pretty typical for the mileage. The only significant things we can pick up on are a car park dent below the driver's door mirror which could benefit from the attention of Dent Devils or a similar smart repair company and a small scuff on the corner of the rear bumper. Other than that there is just the odd little inevitable mark here and there you would expect to find.

 

The interior front and rear is in excellent condition. There is a bluetooth Nokia kit fitted which we have not tested.

 

Wheels

The wheels have some kerb marks - nothing above the ordinary but there are some (please enlarge the photos below). The tyres all have about 5mm of tread remaining.

 

 

History

The car was supplied new by Hapstead Gatwick in September 2004. It has been serviced by Volvo dealers on schedule at 14740, 25008, 36651, 47963 & 60817 miles. A copy of the service book in PDF format can be downloaded by clicking here. The MOT is valid through to September 7 2008.

Marks/Defects/Faults

Dent under wing mirror, scuff rear bumper corner, odd small mark here and there commensurate with mileage.
