Vehicle Description

An really excellent condition 2002 S60 D5 with just over 96k on the clock in Maya Gold metallic. This is probably the nicest 2002 D5 we've seen this year - it really is in superb condition and drive much the same as a new one. In an era of approaching £1.50/litre fuel and £400+ road tax next year on many cars it is difficult to argue with a performance saloon which does 50mpg in mixed driving and comes into a low tax band.

 

This is a well equipped example with cruise control, air conditioning, CD player, half leather, heated front seats, headlamp wash, alloy wheels, traction control, all-round electrics & the full complement of Volvo airbags and safety systems.

 

It has a good service history and comes with a new MOT and two new tyres.

 

Volvo's 5-cylinder D5 engine produces 163bhp and a massive 340Nm of torque whilst still returning over 40mpg on the combined cycle and in our opinion offers pretty much all the performance you could ever ask for and generally feels faster than the petrol turbo versions in day to day driving whilst being vastly more economical. As fitted to the S60, the official EU combined figure is 43.5mpg, with reasonably gentle use in our experience 50mpg is attainable and it is virtually impossible to get below 40mpg no matter how you drive it.

 

Condition wise this is an excellent car which we find hard to find any fault with at all and is in remarkable condition for a 2002 year example. The only thing we can fault on the exterior is a very, very small mark on the corner of the rear bumper - other than that it really is faultless with barely a stone chip on it. We are not exaggerating when we say it is one of the nicest we have ever seen. The interior is also in very good condition show very little wear - the only fault we can find is a very small hole in the fabric on the driver's seat. This may have been caused by a cigarette burn but we're not sure because the car has no other tell take signs of having been smoked in. In any case, a small stitch should get rid of it. We have also noticed that the display for the clock and outside temperature is dim - it's working and is legible but we suspect the illumination bulb has gone.

 

The car drives just like every other S60. There is absolutely no indication in the driving that the car has done more than 20k or is over a year old.

 

Tyres/Wheels

The 16" alloy wheels are in the same condition as the rest of the car which is to say pretty much as new - please see the pictures for details. The front tyres are both brand new, the rear have about 5mm of tread on them.

 

 

History

The car was supplied new in March 2002 and was initially owned by Volvo UK. The service book has stamps at 12349, 23553, 37054, 49463, 63462 & 86829 miles. The car has just been MOT'd so the MOT is valid to April 2009. A copy of the service book can be downloaded by clicking here.
